Akwid presents �California�, their hot new
single, available today for digital and mobile download. The song is the first
taste from Sergio and Francisco Gomez�s epic new album, �Clasificado R�, which
promises to revolutionize the sound of Latin hip-hop forever.
Already
recognized as the pioneers behind the sound that fused regional Mexican and
hip-hop music, Akwid now presents the evolution of their critically acclaimed
sound with a song that will surely become an anthem of the golden state.
�California� captures the essence of the state that Gomez brothers proudly call
home, from the skyscrapers of Los Angeles to the golden gates of the Bay Area.
The song is already receiving airplay at some of the most important radio
stations in the West Coast and promises to explode on a national level.
Akwid will be filming the video for �California� this week at various
important Southern California locations including downtown LA, the Santa Monica
pier, the San Fernando Valley and the beaches near LAX. The video, directed by
Marty Thomas and produced by Jon Zuber of RIDICULOUS Pictures will premiere in
early March at all music video outlets nationwide.
Akwid have solidified
their name as one of Latin hip-hop�s most important entities. Their Spanish
debut album �Proyecto Akwid� reached the #7 position on the Billboard Latin
album charts and featured the smash radio hit �No Hay Manera�. Since then, the
two brothers have been nominated for a Latin Grammy 4 times, most recently for
their 2007 release �La Novela�.
The new album �Clasificado R� will be
released on May 4, 2010.
