Johnny Quintana from the Ink Shop Tattoo Parlor | The Body Art Exhibit
Johnny Quintana has concentrated on art for most of his life, and as he gained experience he began to develop further interest for design. Johnny studied at, and graduated from, the Visual Arts and Design Academy at Pasadena High School in 1997. While attending the Academy he further developed his skills in figure drawing, illustration, rendering, computer graphics, fine arts, medical illustration, and sculpture. Many opportunities emerged from his natural talent and the experience he gained. During his senior year, he was a graphic design curator for an art exhibit called "Careers in Art" and in 1996, he was accepted to the California State Summer School for the Arts at "Cal Arts" in Valencia. Following high school, Johnny continued to develop and experiment with his skills and decided to take a crucial step in his career, as he applied to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and was accepted.
His classes there were intense and strenuous, but it was a time of great learning and growth. He graduated in 2005 fulfilling a Bachelor in Fine Art in the field of Illustration. Johnny�s overall life experience, technical training, natural ability and experimentation allow him possess and produce vast skills. His personality and knowledge allows him to adapt to anything a project may ask of him.
Eventually Johnny would like to teach so he can pass on his skills to up and coming artists. Presently, Johnny is a working artist/tattoo artist who lives to express himself in true form, presenting his unlimited vision to the world. At the age of 15 he began to experiment with tattooing, using homemade equipment, and practicing on willing participants. By the time he was 18 years old, tattooing led to airbrushing. He continued to tattoo until the age of 22, when he was accepted to Art Center at Pasadena. He stopped tattooing for 3 years to pursue a different artistic outlet and further his art education, where he had hopes of pursuing entertainment design. From there, he began doing gallery work in various establishments and putting his work on display for others to view and appreciate. After graduating from Art Center and continuing to paint and display his talent in galleries, Johnny unintentionally stumbled back across his tattoo roots in 2005, when a friend came to him and asked for a tattoo. It was at the point that Johnny fell back in love with the art of tattooing, and decided that it was where his true passion lay. A short time later in 2006, Johnny opened The Ink Shop Tattoo Parlor in Ontario, now relocated in Arcadia, CA, just a short distance from the city of Pasadena where he found his love for the arts. Johnny will always have a love for painting, airbrushing, and drawing, but tattooing will forever have his heart.
