Control Machete | "Mucho Barato" Decimo Aniversario
The Latin Hip-Hop group Control Machete from Monterrey, Mexico made up of three members Pato Machete (Ral Chapa), Fermin IV, and DJ Toy Selectah (Antonio Hernndez) burst onto the scene behind the Spanish Rock movement of the 90s with their Latino Hip-Hop album debut titled "Mucho Barato" back in 1997. Their raw sound and Mexican prospective brought a new flavor never heard before in Spanish Rap music, giving the Spanish speaking world what it needed to jump start a world wide Hip-Hop movement with a Latin American twist.
It is a known fact that Control Machete wasn't the first Spanish Hip-Hop group, but they were the first ones to deliver a Spanish album that could compete with the American Market when it came to rhyme skills and musical production. The album sold more than 100,000 copies in Mexico alone. The impact of "Mucho Barato" would end up changing the direction of Spanish Hip-Hop not only in Mexico but across the globe.
Since their album release in 1997, the group has sold more than one million albums and performed in concerts word wide. "Mucho Barato" still remains one of the top selling Spanish Hip-Hop albums off all times, making it easy to see Control Machete as "El Fenomeno", with their success extended beyond Mexico and crosses borders from the United States all the way down Central and South America.
