Solow13 - The Lord of War
Solow13 is an up and coming Mexican rapper from California who recently signed a deal with Latin Thug Records.
With "Lord of War" in his name SoLOW is on a warpath with two singles hitting the Internet through Itunes, both "Dickies and a Polo" featuring Mellow Man Ace and "Whistle While You Work" featuring Cypress Hill's B-Real are both primed as Summer anthems.
When does your new album drop?
In Stores May 20, 2008, www.Lawfamilia.com up and Running April 20, 2008. We have some Clothes for the ladies and the vato's tambien.
When did you start Rapping and inspired to make your own music?
Solow13: I started writing when I was in high school and always took it seriously but privately. I knew I wanted to perfect what I had before I presented it to people because I saw it as a business not just
making songs. That part is easy. "Now pay me for it" was my mentality. I started really getting down like in 2003-2004 its been a hard life but a great ride that I wouldn't trade it for
anything!
Solow13, Cypress Hill's B-Real, and Mellow Man Ace in the studio.
Your first single and music video is a collabo with Cypress Hill's B Real, how did you link that and how was it?
Solow13: Mellow Man Ace hooked that up for me. He let me know the price and the date and I showed up with a couple hands full of money. I have been a huge fan of
B-Real since I was young so it was great for me! Come on it's B-Real! He sat down and wrote his verse on the spot and it was dope. His people are very professional
so it was great to be on that level. I just kept myself LOW and we kicked the song out in a couple hours. When I can afford him on a bigger level I want to do a whole album, sabes?
it was that dope.
What would you say that makes Solow13 different from other Latin Hip-Hop artists out today?
Sowlow13: That's easy. I GOT SOMETHING TO SAY, just come over and listen for a minute. No one can match my broad range of knowledge regarding
any subject. I take it to the streets, I take you to the classroom, I take you to church, I take you on creeps, I kill the devil in my raps because I'm the only
one fearless enough to take his ass head on, toe to toe. These fools haven't been through what I been through and I'm not coming stupid with it either. I educated
myself and can tango in the streets in the board room, intelligent debate or I just whoop your ass if you wanna fight. I'm a WARRIOR HOMEBOY in the
TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD! The only reason fools don't like my music is simply because they're stupid and no comprende homes..
Who would you like to work with in the future?
Sowlo13: it is my desire to work with the best! From my experience thus far, the best
cost a lot of money. I don't just dream, i set goals. I wanna work with a DR. DRE
beat and I'm stacking my ends to buy a beat from him. I'm really just interested
in his Production right now because he can make sounds with music that i can't
fully develop from my own ear to the keyboard. I can admit that. As far as
rappers go. I'm down to work with anyone who has some level of CLASS in they're
music. I'd prefer to surround myself with "the best of the unknowns" and make
them "KNOWN" that's what I'm meditating on right now.
Without Radio or any major media outlet supporting Latin Hip Hop, how do you plan to break out into the scene?
Solow13: I work my way through it, that's how. I keep working and keep grinding and keep on pushing. I'm the ONE they all been looking for
to represent PROPERLY for OUR PEOPLE. They will realize this sooner or later and simply SUBMIT. If Mexicans have proven anything in our culture
we have proven that when we see a fence, we don't turn around, we get a shovel. When we see a river, we cross it. What else is new? If they let me have it without
a struggle. I'd be bored.
What does Solow13 Listen to?
Solow13: Great question, I am very selective of what I feed my mind. Right now in my changer I have Bob Marley's "Legend" album. I got 50 Cent
"Get Rich or die Tryin'". That number 4 track is like my heart. I can feel 50 on that one with a tear and a smile. I got Tupac's Greatest Hits and Tupac's "All eyes on me". That's
all I fit in mine.
Are you working on any other projects?
Solow13: Yes, I am perfecting a couple of songs I already have for my second album and I'm reaching out to a few artists for collaborations. In May I hope to get with Raffee of Hardknoxx.
I just heard some of their beats and I'm feeling them. They got beats for days. If I can't get Dr. Dre. I get the ones who want to be the NEXT Dr.Dre, as they say and lookin' to me like they're gonna do it
too!
Why work with Latin Thugs not sign with a major label?
Solow13: Like i said before. I always approached music as a business. Having this mind set, I didn't come at the game like an "artist" I came in as a business owner. So everything that I do in regards to
myself as an artist must include my company as well. When the offers I had could not comply with my standard, I walked, and yeah, there were other offers. But, they must have fell and bumped their head or
thought I couldn't speak English or something. I hit the highway for them. Latin Thug offered me distribution with an amazing percentage for my company on the backend. I got the best distribution deal on
Earth. Just get me in the door I can do the Rest!
How could anyone get a hold of you if they would like just contact you as a fan or business?
Solow13: Until www.LAWFAMILIA.com is completed they can reach me at [email protected] or through my Publicist Julio Trejo at [email protected]. Everyone is able to Message me or Comment me on my
MUSICSPACE: www.myspace.com/SOLOW13WARRIOR13 I don't really like to be around a lot of people so the Internet is great for me!
Is there anything else you would like to say to anyone reading brownpride.com?
Yes, to those who show me Love I will show you Love. To those who show me hate, I
will show you Love anyway because i don't fear you, just don't make a move. To
those who would seek to end my life, come and get it, I got a SUR-PRIZE for you...
